Over 50 specialty vendors await you at Toronto's premier market* at Front and Jarvis Streets. In the center of the historic St. Lawrence Neighbourhood, close to the hub of today's downtown, sit three buildings that have served as Toronto's social centre, City Hall and market place throughout the City's history.

This should maybe be split in two, the farmer's market on Saturday mornings in the north market building is very green since all the food comes in from probably less than 50km (compared to the 1500km average). The permanent south market features some local produce but it's mostly imported from similar distances to what you'd get in any grocery store. It's also important to note that neither market features organics very heavily - for local AND organic foods check out the Dufferin Grove Farmer's market (http://dufferinpark.ca/market/wiki/wiki.php/Market.FrontPage) every thursday from 3pm-7pm.
